From school age, budding string players can join one of our Super Strings groups. For complete beginners, Sophie, violinist in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and experienced violin teacher, will guide young violinists through the basics of learning the violin, in a fun and engaging group environment. These classes also include songs, games, activities with rhythm and pitch, composition and improvisation, as well as parachutes, balls, bean bags and many other things especially designed to develop a strong foundation in all-round musicanship, while having loads of fun along the way! Small violins are provided, as are all resources need to get your young musician started!
Once our beginner violinists have got to grips with the basics, they can move up to our more advanced Super Strings group, where they will continue to build on their musical skills, alongside other violinists and our beginner cellos (who are tutored by the very amazing cellist, flautist and music teacher, Lizzie!) These amazing young instrumentalists learn more about what it takes to play as part of an ensemble, learning teamwork, leading and following, group singing, as well as building on their musical skills with more musical games specially designed to further their skills in all areas of musicianship. They also begin to learn independently, taking charge of their own chamber groups and string quartets, with coaching from Sophie and Lizzie to help them along. Many of our fantastic Super Strings have also gone on to pass ABRSM exams at Initial, Grade 1 and Grade 2 level- which we are very proud of!
